Gareth Hughes - Bar Manager
Madsu Limited (the commercial arm of the SU) took over the running of the College Bar five years ago and has seen the Bar grow to be very much the hub of College social life. Regular weekly events in the bar include Quiz Nights and Live Music Events, as well as monthly Comedy Nights and no so regular, but still highly popular, theme nights including Bavarian Night and Karaoke. The Students’ Union uses the Bar as the base for its social calendar and it is also the focus at the start of the Academic Year for Freshers’ Week.
It is also, of course, just a place to relax. The Bar serving area was completely refitted four years ago and the coffee bar and the bar area joined to make a larger more sociable area. Two years ago we opened a balcony which overlooks beautiful
All profits from the bar are fed back into the Students’ Union, so we can continue to improve services and facilities for all members of the student body.
