Your Students' Union
Officially, and in constitional speak, the SU Mission and objectives are:
...... to further the educational purposes of RWCMD by providing for, promoting, and protecting the interests of members as students in order to enhance their student experience, and without prejudice to the generality, the objects will, in particular:
- promote and safeguard the interests of the Union
- advance the personal and social education of its members
- promote the general welfare of the students
- represent the generality of students in academic disciplinary or other matters relating to the government of RWCMD
- act as the recognised channel of communication between the students and RWCMD, the local community, and external bodies
- provide for the educational, social, cultural, and recreational activities of members and encourage student societies, sports, and activities
- provide for the administration of the Union's premises
- establish and maintain relations with other students' unions and external organisations
- operate in a fair and democratic manner and be accountable for its finances
- foster and encourage the freedom of speech, expression, and association amongst members
- provide opportunities for the personal development of members
- provide mechanisms whereby Officers may be accountable to members
- take measures to encourage and build a student community which respects and celebrates the diversity of the membership
